Regional homebuilder Stanley Martin Homes LLC has secured six building permits from the City of Greenville totaling more than $2.69 million in combined valuation, signaling a concentrated infill housing push across two nearby corridors.

The largest single permit, valued at $2,143,632, covers an eight-unit residential building at 0 Westfield Street. Issued on May 19, the commercial building permit describes an eight-unit structure that includes sprinkler and electrical rooms for the entire building, with units tied to lots 9 through 16 at addresses along Gibbs Street, including 144A Gibbs St, 144B Gibbs St, and 140B Gibbs St.

Separately, Stanley Martin pulled five residential permits for new townhomes at 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 Broad River Street, each valued at $109,591. Those permits were issued between May 20 and May 21 and cover lots 1 through 5 along the street. Each is classified as a new townhouse under the city's residential building permit category, and all six permits carry an "Issued" status, meaning construction can proceed.

Taken together, the activity adds 13 new housing units to an area within close range of downtown Greenville. The five Broad River Street townhomes alone account for roughly $548,000 in permit valuation, while the Westfield Street project makes up nearly 80 percent of the combined total.

Stanley Martin Homes, headquartered in the mid-Atlantic region, has been expanding its Southeastern footprint in recent years. The company is listed as both owner and contractor of record on all six permits, indicating it is building the units on its own land rather than working as a subcontractor for another developer.

The cluster of permits — all issued within a three-day window last week — points to a coordinated construction timeline that could bring new housing inventory to the market as Greenville continues to see demand for attainable, higher-density residential products close to its urban core.
